Simulation Programs
When you come to the Portland Campus SCLC you will find a number of individuals here: Undergraduate nursing students; Graduate nursing students; and Medical Residents are likely to be here running through assessment courses; skills training and high-fidelity simulation. Over 15,000 simulations are facilitated each year at this fully operational center. At OHSU Simulation also happens in the clinical departments and 'in-situ' (in patient care rooms). This is a way to bring training to practitioners in the patient care setting.
Undergraduate
Both of our undergraduate nursing curriculum are based on the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education model. Simulation is integrated into every course throughout the curriculum and it spirals throughout the students course of study.
- OCNE (Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education),http://www.ocne.org/
- AccBacc Program – 15 month accelerated baccalaureate program.
Graduate
- Nurse Anesthesia Program (NAP)
- Nurse Midwifery Program is continuing to take steps to integrate simulation into their curriculum. The birthing simulator (Noelle) and neonatal simulator (Baby Hal) have been utilized to practice deliveries.
