Victoria Cotrell, Ph.D.
Dr. Cotrell is an Associate Professor at Portland State University in the School of Social Work. She has over 10 years of experience in community mental health providing clinical social work services, training service providers, and directing mental health programs for older adults She is interested in maximizing the independence and quality of life of medically and cognitively frail older adults and has conducted funded research on adaptive strategies and risky behaviors (such as medication self-management) in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. She is also interested in identifying barriers to aging-in-place experienced by cognitively frail older residents of affordable housing. Dr. Cotrell teaches courses in direct practice with frail older adults, late-life development, and research methods in gerontology.
