Welcome to the OHSU Hartford Center

  • On Tuesday, April 12, 2011, Barbara and Donald Jonas marked the fifth anniversary of the Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence by announcing the expansion of its acclaimed Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholar Program and launching its inaugural development campaign. An additional 100 nurse doctoral scholarships will be funded nationwide by 2012, at least 25 of which will go to members of the military who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan. This will bring the total number of Jonas Scholars to 150 and help resolve the dire shortage of nursing faculty that impeded the education of the next generation of nurses and adversely affects patient care.
  • Center Director Terri Harvath addresses making nursing homes more "person-centered," as well as the current shortage of workers available to care for our elders in a recent Oregonian article, "Oregon among national leaders in number of assisted living facilities." (Jan. 5, 2010). Read the article.
