OHSU

Monmouth

The OHSU School of Nursing Monmouth Campus is located at Western Oregon University. WOU is 20 minutes from the state capital, Salem, and a little more than an hour from Portland for city life. We're a short drive from the Oregon coast, mountains and other scenic areas. Nature lovers and outdoor adventurers can travel in any direction to find their favorite spot, from the ski slopes of Mt. Hood to the Columbia River Gorge for wind-surfing or whale-watching in Depoe Bay.

The Monmouth campus opened in Fall 2008, admitting an inaugural class of 27 for the first cohort that will be graduating in Spring 2011. The entire 2nd floor of the Math and Nursing Building at Western Oregon University is dedicated to the OHSU Nursing Program. This space includes a classroom, large skills lab area, computer lab, simulation suite, faculty and administrative offices, student lockers, and student lounge. We are centrally located on campus, just steps away from the Werner University Center and across the street from the Hamersly Library.

Welcome

from Dr. Jean M. Donovan, Monmouth Campus Program Director

We are delighted that you are interested in the newest OHSU School of Nursing campus!  We began offering nursing courses to our first class of 27 students in September, 2008. Given our small size, we are fortunate to be able to foster a close partnership between faculty, staff, and students in order to promote student success.  Being situated on the beautiful grounds of historic Western Oregon University, our students benefit from the many interdisciplinary and multicultural opportunities here. We look forward to growing in number and to graduating baccalaureate nurses who are uniquely prepared to serve the people and communities of the mid-Willamette Valley.
