CPR Compliance - Ashland Share This OHSU Content

All undergraduate nursing students are expected to maintain and show evidence of a current CPR certification. Certification for incoming students must be at the BLS Healthcare Provider level and must be obtained through the American Heart Association, only. Classes that include the Automated External Defibrilator (AED) are optional. A hybrid AHA Healthcare Provider course is acceptable – the first part is offered online with parts 2 and 3 – skills practice and testing completed on-site. Please check the AHA course finder to identify a Healthcare Provider BLS level CPR training that works for you. For information on finding CPR courses, please contact your local chapter of the American Heart Association or check the American Heart Association CPR course finder for local AHA courses.

Finding a CPR course can sometimes take up to six weeks, so we recommend students begin looking for a course now. It is very helpful to obtain your certification between June and September so it will last you through two full academic years.
