Current Research Project
I am working on the Astoria Women’s Heart Health Initiative, which is a pilot study on heart disease prevention in Clatsop County, Oregon. Our team has just completed our first health fair, in which we enrolled over 300 women into the study. We plan to have a second health fair in early April, and I am coordinating all health fair logistics and recruiting participants.

Topics covered during the conference included alcohol and drug prevention, healthy relationships, and suicide prevention. The youth were allowed to participate in a variety of workshops that involved digital storytelling, art, and film production, including the filming of a SAMHSA Public Service Announcement.

Portland State University, Ronald E. McNair Scholar, 2009. Research Project: The Lents International Farmer’s Market: A Case and Comparative Study
In the summer of 2009, I completed a case study of the Lents International Farmer’s Market, which included conducting personal interviews, creating and collecting customer surveys, and visiting several farms. I discovered both challenges and opportunities of sustaining the market, and delivered feedback to the market manager of my findings.
