PHPM 563 PharmacoEcon/Epidemiology

Course Description This course is an introductory level course in pharmacoeconomics and healthcare technology assessment (HTA). The purpose of this course is to develop a basic understanding of pharmacoeconomic principles and research methodology employed in pharmacoeconomic trials. Emphasis will be placed on interpretation of pharmacoeconomic study results. By the end of this course, student should be able to evaluate and critique published pharmacoeconomic trials for appropriateness, study design and methodology, and conclusions. Students will also be introduced to the importance of pharmacoeconomics and HTA in making informed in making informed decisions regarding public policy.
