PHPM 540 Introduction to Research Design

Course Description An introduction to research design methodology. The class will prepare students for formulating questions so they can be translated into research designs and follow the steps of the research process from the specification of the original idea to reporting the results of the study. A variety of types of research will be covered including program evaluation, meta-analytic designs, non-experimental observational research, survey research, and experimental designs. Students will study classic research literature and design their own research project. Particularly targeted at MPH students designing their thesis proposals.
