PHPM 507 Epidemiology of Addictive Behaviors

Course Description:
The course will introduce graduate students in the MPH program to the application of epidemiologic concepts and methods to the huge, expensive and unsolved problems of addictive behavior in our society. The course is intended for students who have completed an introductory course in Epidemiology. The course will deal with the difference between drug use and drug abuse, childhood predictors of adolescent drug use and abuse, comparisons of drug and non-drug addictions, and etiologic models on which to base prevention efforts.
