What is your application deadline?
We begin accepting applications September 1, 2012. The application deadline is November 1st, 2012. Applications for PGY-1 positions are only accepted via ERAS.

When are your interviews?
We begin interviewing in early November and continue through late January, 2012. For a list of interview dates, go to our interview schedule page.

Are USMLE exam scores mandatory?
US medical school applicants must pass step 1 and be scheduled to take step 2 prior to graduation.
Non-US medical school applicants must pass steps 1 and 2 in order to be ECFMG certified.

Do you have a minimum USMLE score?
We have no minimum score requirement but a competitive score will increase the strength of your application.

Do you accept COMLEX scores instead of USMLE scores?
Yes

Do you offer preliminary or transitional positions?
No

Do you hire outside of the NMRP match?
Generally no.

Do you offer visiting resident/medical student rotations?
We have limited room for learners, therefore we only allow medical students and resident physicians currently enrolled in U.S., LCME accredited institutions to apply for visiting rotations. Go to the OHSU School of Medicine website for more information.

Is US clinical experience required for international graduates?
We require 1 year of clinical experience (i.e. - physician or physician in training) in a U.S. or equivalent healthcare system. We do not count observerships, externships or research as clinical experience.

How long can I be out of medical school and still apply for your program?
You must have completed medical school within the last 5 years. To apply for 2012 you must have finished medical school no earlier than 2007.

Are there any special requirements for international medical grads (IMG's)?
IMG's must be ECFMG certified at the time their application is submitted, they must have at least one year of clinical experience in the U.S. or in a health care system similar to the U.S. (e.g., Australia, Ireland, and the like), and have graduated from medical school no earlier than 2007. Please note that we do not count externships, observerships, or research work as clinical experience.

You must be legally able to work in the U.S. or eligible to obtain work authorization.  We sponsor J1 clinical and H1B visas. 

How many IMG's are in your program?
We currently have 97 residents in our program, and all but 3 are U.S. medical graduates.

Do you participate in the couples match?
Yes.

Do you support the ABIM research pathway?
Yes.
