Dr Kahl enjoys being a general rheumatologist and caring for patients with the gamut of rheumatic diseases. She finds patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) to be particularly rewarding to work with, and finds the challenges of this multi-system disease to be stimulating and thought-provoking. She has had clinical research interests and publications in the field of SLE and currently heads the OHSU SLE/Scleroderma clinic. Dr. Kahl's major academic area of interest is in medical education. She is currently involved in the medical school curriculum transformation process at OHSU.
