Esther Moe, Ph.D., M.P.H., is a Research Assistant Professor of Medicine. Dr. Moe was an outstanding multi-sports athlete and taught physical education, health education and coached at the high school and college levels prior to returning to graduate studies and receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. Dr. Moe was recruited to join the newly formed Division of Health Promotion and Sports Medicine in 1994. She has been integral to the Division’s research activities, including the ATLAS and ATHENA sport team-centered health promotion programs, the SATURN student drug testing trial and the PHLAME health promotion program for fire fighters. Currently, Dr. Moe is a co-investigator and Project Coordinator for HEALTHY study, a National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease funded multimillion dollar middle school type 2 diabetes prevention trial. Dr. Moe had reviewed grants for the National Institute of Health, U.S. Department of Education and the World Anti-Doping Association. She has mentored students completing their Masters in Public Health degrees and published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles. She is an accomplished speaker and has presented her work at national and international meetings.
