 The Bone and Mineral Unit at OHSU provides expert consultation and care for patients with skeletal disorders and problems of mineral metabolism. We are further dedicated to expanding the understanding of the causes and treatments of bone and mineral disorders, particularly Osteoporosis.

Clinical Programs

Osteoporosis Clinic - The Bone & Mineral Unit at OHSU provides expert consultation and care for patients with disorders of bone and mineral metabolism.  The clinic is located in the first floor of the Physicians Pavilion in the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center.

Bone Density (DEXA Scan) - We offer three patient locations on the OHSU campus for Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) scans and one research location.


Research

Research Services - Bone Densitometry Services provides expertise in the design and implementation of Bone Densitometry Research protocols for both human and animal research.  Whether you are implementing an industry sponsored clinical trial, or, designing your own study, our unit is specifically designed to acquire and analyze all types of bone densitometry scans.

Education

Bone Density Technician Training - The Bone & Mineral Unit offers a comprehensive training course in bone mass measurement. The program provides complete training for certification in bone densitometry by the Oregon State Board of Radiologic Technology.

Physician Osteoporosis Preceptorship - The Preceptorship is designed to provide instruction about Osteoporosis evaluation, prevention and therapy in a small group format conducive to questions, case presentations and discussion.
