OHSU Department of Medicine

 The Department of Medicine at OHSU is involved in education, research and patient care.  Our twelve divisions are involved in everything from General Internal Medicine to sub-specialty care in various disciplines.  We currently have 215 clinical faculty, 45 research faculty, more than 300 volunteer faculty, over 200 housestaff (residents, clinical and research fellows) and numerous staff.

Sharon Anderson, M.D., appointed to position of interim chair of the Department of Medicine

Dr. Sharon AndersonSharon Anderson, M.D., has accepted the position of interim chair of the Department of Medicine. Lynn Loriaux, M.D., Ph.D., has decided to step down from his current position as interim chair, a role he assumed in August 2012, after serving 18 years as department chair.

Dr. Anderson is an active clinician, educator and researcher, and is nationally recognized both for distinguished accomplishments across all our mission areas, and for her strong leadership. Dr. Anderson currently serves as chief of medical service at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

A member of the OHSU faculty since 1991, Dr. Anderson is a professor in the Department of Medicine and a member of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension. Dr. Anderson previously served as associate dean for faculty development in the School of Medicine and was instrumental in initiating lasting efforts to improve faculty recruitment, retention, promotion and career satisfaction.
