PCFDI

Now that the redesign of primary care is well underway, key needs of new generation frontline physicians have emerged, and some of them are not imbedded in our current internal medicine, pediatrics and family medicine residencies. The time is now to create a national faculty development program building on empiric evidence of "what works" in faculty development and early pilot efforts to improve training in primary care.

The Primary Care Faculty Development Initiative (PCFDI) provides faculty in each of the primary care disciplines of internal medicine, pediatrics and family medicine an opportunity to engage in a collaborative hands-on learning experience focusing on how to train primary care residents to practice safely and effectively in a rapidly evolving health care system.
