James "Zephy" McKanna earned his BA in Neuroscience, Computer Science, and Psychology from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. He has been working as a research assistant and programmer in the field of Medical Informatics since that time, investigating the role that technology could play in diagnosing and assisting the aging brain. He is currently enrolled in the PhD program in DMICE at OHSU, and works with faculty members Holly Jimison and Misha Pavel. His primary research interests involve using computer games to detect cognitive changes, particularly in Alzheimer's and dementia.
