Introduction to Programming
This page has been created to accept payment for Judy Logan's Introduction to Programming course, which will be taught on an ongoing basis. This online course will introduce the beginning programmer to programming structure and design, creating a solid foundation for all types of programming. The emphasis will be on procedural programming and control structures, although exercises will be in Java.
The course is self-paced: you may register and begin at any time, then proceed at any pace as long as you complete the lessons in order and within one year. Students with little or no programming experience should expect that a minimum of 10 weeks will be needed to complete the course. You must complete the lessons prior to registering for BMI 540 - Introduction to Computer Science with Java Programming or BMI 565 – Bioinformatics Programming and Scripting. The non-credit course fulfills the prerequisite for BMI 540 and for BMI 565. The fee for the course is $500. Once you have submitted the registration form, please contact Diane Doctor at doctord@ohsu.edu to make sure you have access to course materials in Sakai, the online learning program. There is a one business day turnaround before you will have access to the course materials in Sakai. You will receive instructions on accessing the course from the Sakai Help Desk.br />
