Clinical Informatics Roles
Clinical Informatics Analyst
Identifies clinical practice workflow and process issues and concerns, and provides leadership and guidance to define system and process requirements that will optimize system performance and technology utilization by clinical practitioners. The goal of the position is designing information systems and technologies that are as transparent as possible to the clinical practitioner.
Clinical Informatics Specialist
Supports physicians, clinicians, health care workers, affiliates and partners by providing continuous support, troubleshooting and identifying opportunities for clinical information system improvements. Promotes future and present system functionality by designing, building and testing the clinical information systems.
Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO)
The CMIO is an integral member of the leadership team. Responsibilities include leading the governance process for clinical systems, driving the optimization of the electronic health record, participating in the strategy development for the hospital's information systems portfolio, leading the informatics program across the health system, and overseeing the safe and efficient design of the EHR.
Is involved with day-to-day data analysis of genomes, and contributes/leads in the creation of tools to visualize complex genomic data sets, as well as improve methods for assembling next generation sequence data. Participates in the development of genome analysis methods to assist in furthering scientific knowledge pertaining to specific organisms.
Performs basic and advanced analysis on data produced from next generation sequencing systems (DNA-seq, RNA-seq, metagenomics, ChIP-seq, etc.) as well as genotyping and gene expression microarrays. Work with researchers to generate and provide analysis reports, project reports and perform requested custom analysis.
Builds and executes next generation sequencing (NGS) data processing workflows, develops analysis tools to facilitate data interpretation, and provides data management support for ongoing clinical trials. Establish, enhance, and benchmark NGS data processing workflows locally or in the cloud. Develop tools for analysis and interpretation of processed NGS and other –omics data.
Health Information Management Analyst
Responsible for assembling and analyzing medical records in accordance with hospital/departmental policies and procedures, performing audits in accordance with established federal rules and regulations, abstracting and coding clinical data using standard classification systems, and processing requests for patient health information. Performs a variety of tasks and assists the Director of Medical Records in other clerical duties.
Works with the Chief Privacy Officer, affiliate Privacy Officers and other privacy team members to assure compliance with federal and state privacy regulations including HIPAA, HITECH, CMIA, other state privacy laws and the organization’s privacy policies and procedures. The Privacy Analyst investigates potential privacy breaches and noncompliance with HIPAA policies.
Director of Health Information Management
The HIM Director is responsible for oversight and management of the daily operations of the HIM Department to include the planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting, monitoring and directing functions within the HIM department. Responsible for leading and directing health information management services across the health system, striving for compliance and promoting best practices and education in all areas related to coding, documentation, and the legal health record.
Healthcare Data Analyst
This position is responsible for reporting and analysis of healthcare information, obtained from a variety of sources, including administrative, clinical, financial, and demographic data. Responsibilities include the development and preparation of data to provide useful information and commentary for internal and external stakeholders.
Senior IT Business Analyst
Pro-actively engage with IT and business stakeholders to identify, document and prioritize technical requirements and collaboratively define IT solutions addressing requirements and action plans. Coordinate the successful implementation of IT solutions.
Chief Information Officer (CIO)
The CIO provides technology vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the affiliate-wide information technology (IT) program/department. Leads the health care network in planning and implementing enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized clinical and business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial enterprise-wide IT operations.
