Nuclear Medicine Residency Share This OHSU Content

The program is approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and historically is filled by individuals who already have completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology. Following completion of the one-year residency, individuals are eligible for certification by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.

All of the usual nuclear medicine procedures are done including: sentinel node biopsies, seizure focus localization, bone densitometry, and radionuclide therapy. Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is part of OHSU and a number of pediatric studies are done annually. OHSU is the only facility in Oregon which does Prostascint antibody imaging.

Equipment includes a number of single and two-head cameras, along with a triple-head gamma camera. OHSU has a CT/PET scanner.

There are at least 2 hours per day of formal didactic conferences, which are held in association with the Radiology department. In addition, weekly Thursday morning didactic conferences are held in the Nuclear Medicine Division and all Nuclear Medicine staff are invited to attend.

Call is taken approximately 1 week per month from home.
