Peter Zuber Appointed To Advisory Board of Molecular Microbiology

Portland, Ore. — Peter Zuber, Ph.D., professor in OHSU's Department of Environmental and Biomolecular Systems, has been appointed to the advisory board of the journal Molecular Microbiology.

Advisory board members are selected by the editors of Molecular Microbiology, and their duties include providing peer reviews of journal articles.

Molecular Microbiology is the leading primary journal in microbial sciences. The journal publishes research on molecular studies of eukaryotic microorganisms and of prokaryotes (bacteria and archaea) and their viruses. In the field of microbiology, it ranks only behind Nature, Science, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in the ISI Essential Science Indicators list, which analyzes the impact of journal articles based on the number of times they are cited.

Topics covered in Molecular Microbiology include: gene expression and regulation, pathogenicity and virulence, physiology and metabolism, synthesis of macromolecules (proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, polysaccharides, etc.), cell biology and subcellular organization, membrane biogenesis and function, traffic and transport, cell-cell communication and signalling pathways, and evolution and gene transfer.

Dr. Zuber also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Bacteriology.
