Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) Track

BMB Track Student

The BMB track is for students who want to focus their graduate study on exploring the frontiers of biological systems science by defining life processes at the molecular scale. Applications include

  • Enzyme/Protein engineering
  • Microbial engineering
  • Microbial cell factories

The track emphasizes fundamental aspects of microbial communities, cellular and enzyme regulation, and metallobiochemistry. Most students become highly engaged in research soon after matriculation. In addition, BMB track students take three core biochemistry courses (Proteins and Enzymes, Molecular Biology, and Metabolism), and a personalized selection of elective courses, reading groups, and seminars.
