Biography
Claire Celeste Carnes is the Regional Director of Marketing and Communications, Providence Health & Services, Oregon. She currently manages the marketing and communications teams supporting the Providence Medical Group and Providence Health Plans as well as guiding several strategic marketing initiatives. She is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans inclusive of advertising, events, collateral, research and digital marketing tools including e-newsletters and social media. She is accountable for creation of positioning of Providence, distinguishing Providence in the marketplace and in the minds of members, patients, physicians and community. Combining her passion for the consumer with her knowledge of technology solutions, she participates on the steering team for electronic tools such as the personal health assessment and online provider directory. Responsible for establishing, implementing and reporting systems that track measurable outcomes as a result of marketing activities.
Prior to joining Providence, Oregon's largest private employer, in 2008, Claire Celeste spent a decade in marketing and management at Intel. She began her career focused on utilizing the Web for marketing including setting up the first online "click to purchase" retail strategy for the Pentium® 3 processor launch. She held a variety of marketing positions in both the global marketing group and the Americas sales region. In her position as the Operations Director for Global Marketing, she introduced several initiatives including global marketing metrics and marketing department ongoing education and training. Prior to Intel, Claire Celeste was in brand management at Pillsbury and worked at a Seattle advertising agency. She received her master's degree from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University with a focus on marketing, management and strategy and organizational design and her undergraduate degree from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communications at Washington State University.
The marketing materials and campaigns developed for Providence Health & Services under Claire Celeste's direction have been recognized with several local, national and international awards including the 2010 Communicator Awards Award of Excellence (top award), sponsored by the International Academy of the Visual Arts in the Medical Newsletter category; best integrated business-to-business campaign, American Marketing Association of Oregon, 2010; 2010 Silver Aster Award, honoring excellence in medical marketing and advertising; best integrated campaign, government / nonprofit, America Marketing Association of Oregon, 2009; best health plan website, eHealth Leadership Awards 2009; and best health plan campaign, distinction (tied with United Healthcare) 2009 HealthLeaders Media Marketing Awards.
Claire Celeste has presented at several local events including PDXfX, AMA and WCAL. She is on the board of Women's Center for Applied Leadership and volunteers at Northwest Children's Outreach and Providence Bridge Pedal among other activities.
