Alexander Kain promoted to Associate Professor
The Center for Spoken Language Understanding is pleased to announce the promotion of Alexander Kain to Associate Professor. Dr. Kain conducts research at CSLU on biological signals, with a focus on human speech, and is an instructor in the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering education program.
His current projects include creating a computer-based pronunciation analysis system for children with speech sound disorders, enhancing a Text-to-Speech system to allow it to mimic its operator's voice, and developing an unobstructive screening method for sleep apnea based on sleep sounds.
Dr. Kain earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering at Oregon Graduate Institute in 2001.
