A welcome message from the Department Chair

Welcome to Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health and Sciences University.

The BME Department encompasses multidisciplinary and multiscale research applied to significant health problems. BME faculty link basic science to the clinic by providing advanced technical solutions -- computational models, engineered experimental systems, advanced measurement technologies, nanotechnology, and reporter chemistry -- to pressing biomedical problems.

These efforts contribute to elucidation of disease mechanisms, detection and diagnosis of clinically relevant problems, and development of new treatment approaches and devices. These efforts are enhanced by organized research in the new Center for Spatial Systems Biomedicine.

Biomedical Engineering:  Multidisciplinary and Multi-Level

As a component of Oregon Health & Science University, we welcome bright, motivated students who seek to apply advanced technologies in real-world situations. We offer accredited Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering.

OHSU is an equal opportunity, affirmative action institution that encourages diverse applicants to consider this opportunity. Applicants with disabilities can request reasonable accommodation by contacting the Affirmative Action & Equal Opportunity department at 503 494-5148.
