Students who complete this core course will have basic understanding of the neurobiology of select disorders, including Anxiety, Depression, Schizophrenia, and Autism. This understanding will include knowledge of the behavioral diagnoses, drugs used for treatment, and the important anatomical pathways and neurotransmitters featured in each disorder. Students also will become familiar with animal models used to study aspects of each disorder, and they will learn validation criteria to critique the relevance of the animal model(s) for each disorder.
