OHSU

Body Donation Program

Our program has been an integral part of medical education and research in Oregon, providing the opportunity for whole body donation to those who wish to make a final, end-of-life contribution to society. The service we offer benefits not only the donors and their families but also the entire community of students and practitioners of medical science.

Founded in 1976, the Body Donation Program at Oregon Health & Sciences University has been an integral part of medical education and research in Oregon.

Integrity

For more than 30 years, the OHSU Body Donation Program has enjoyed a reputation of integrity within the donor community. In complete compliance with federal regulations (Anatomical Gifts Act), the Body Donation Program does not and will never engage in profiteering from the use of human remains. All donated remains are handled and treated in accordance with the highest ethical standards.

Trust

Every year, between 150 and 250 altruistic citizens of Oregon and the greater Pacific Northwest donate their bodies and place their trust in us to honor and carry out their final wishes. Our pledge to these remarkable individuals and their families is that we will ensure the appropriate use of their remains toward the advancement of medical education and scientific research.
