Alumni-sponsored Match Day Reception honors matches and mentors
Celebrating the M.D. Class of 2014
After the excitement and emotion of Match Day 2014, members of the M.D. Class of 2014 gathered the following afternoon to reflect on their next steps and recognize those who had helped them reach this career milestone.
Nearly 150 students, alumni and guests gathered on Saturday, March 22, for a reception in the beautifully decorated Center for Health & Healing atrium. Included in that number were over 30 individuals identified by class members as mentors on their journeys through medical school.
The event was sponsored by the OHSU School of Medicine Alumni Association.
"This is a special moment, not only for the students who have matched but for those who have supported them," said Donald Girard, M.D. '73, MACP, who was attending both as president of the alumni association and as a mentor to MS4 Ryland Stucke.
"We hope that our work as mentors not only has contributed to your successes, but also serves as a reminder of the importance of mentorship, roles in which you may now participate. Finally, it is the Alumni Council's fervent hope that you, the graduates of the Class of 2014 experience the same wonder, challenges and rewards as we have had in this most sacred profession."
