Help Our Students Travel

As a graduate of OHSU, you may remember the excitement of interview season as you began your journey to matching for residency. Our class is now beginning the process of finalizing our applications and will be anticipating invitations for interviews shortly. Selecting a residency is a challenging task. We would love to gain your insight about your home city or institution by inviting you to participate in a growing program.

The School of Medicine Alumni Association’s Help Our Students Travel or “HOST” program connects alumni with members of the School of Medicine Class of 2014 as they blaze the interview trail.

Historically, alums have offered to give a tour of the institution they work at or are familiar with. They provide tips on navigation of their home city and clue us in to the best places to grab coffee or dinner while visiting. Additionally, they have graciously offered to host visiting students at their home. This helps our travel budget tremendously and we are grateful for your willingness to provide us a welcoming place to stay.

Become a HOST Program Volunteer

If you’re willing to host a medical student in need of a place to stay in your community, we’d love to hear from you.  In addition to sharing your home, sharing your experience is a welcome gift to a physician-in-the-making.

HOST Program Student Request

If you would like to use the HOST program, please complete the Student Registration Form to give us details about your travel plans and other information that will assist in matching you with a host.

The Alumni Relations Program will contact alumni volunteers in your travel area(s) and attempt to match you up. If successful we will share contact information with you and ask you promptly to contact your host to confirm your travel plans or make appropriate arrangements.

After you return from your interview, please send a thank you to the alumnus/a who hosted you, and let us know how it went.
