Applicants are required to submit three letters of reference as part of their CASPA application. These three letters are sufficient to provide the admissions committee with information regarding your potential for becoming a PA and readiness a master's level PA program.  An applicant may submit an additional letter or two directly to the OHSU PA Program to be included with their application, however, additional letters are not required or necessarily encouraged.  Any additional letters outside of the three CASPA letters may be sent directly from the reference to: OHSU Physician Assistant Admissions Office, 2730 SW Moody Ave, Mail Code: CL5PA, Portland, OR  97201. 

OHSU does not require letters from specific sources, however, our preference is for letters of reference to be submitted from each of the following:
  • a physician assistant (PA) or physician (MD or DO)
  • a current or former work supervisor
  • an academic source such as an academic advisor, instructor, professor

The above sources are only our preference for letter writers.  Applicants should select references based on many factors including those who know you best.  The letters should come from professional sources, not family members or friends.
