Training

OHSU is renowned for its clinical training within the School of Medicine. The medical school curriculum focuses on integration of basic and clinical sciences in the pre-clinical years, emphasizes self-directed learning and patient contact early in the pre-clinical years, and includes transition courses into the PhD and the MD clinical years. The MD/PhD program has unique program requirements that support the best development of physician-scientist trainees. Starting academic year 2021-2022, an international Clinical & Translational Research Experience will be available for 1-2 students to go to Bangkok, Thailand and other international research experiences will be available in partnership with the OHSU Global SE Asia and Oceania program. We also boast fantastic program leadership, excellent labs to join, and invite you to learn more about our leaders and faculty mentors.

APSA membership

OHSU MD/PhD students receive complimentary membership to the American Physician Scientists Association (APSA). Participation in APSA allows our students to connect nationally and interact with other physician-scientist trainees across the country. Through generous funding from the Robert & June Koler MD/PhD Scholarship fund and our T32 grant we are able to send several students to the annual APSA meeting to present and participate.
