Dr. Johnstone joined the department in 2004 as adjunct professor and Director of Research. His research interests are mesenchymal stem cells, chondrogenesis, and cartilage repair and regeneration.

Education and Experience

PhD Biochemistry, Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, London,1987. His work on the intervertebral disc earned two Volvo prizes for low back pain research
