Dean Mark Richardson,Crystal Paredes and President Joe Robertson
August 16, 2013
Drum roll, please … Chosen through an OHSU-wide employee, student and volunteer voting process, Crystal Paredes, coordinator for the Graduate Program in Molecular and Cellular Biosciences, School of Medicine Dean’s office, is the 2013 President’s Award recipient. Crystal received the award from President Joe Robertson during a special luncheon Aug. 14 celebrating all 12 nominees. Several members of the OHSU Executive Leadership Team were also in attendance.
“Congratulations to Crystal for serving as an inspiration to all of us,” School of Medicine Dean Mark Richardson said. “I want to thank her for the creativity and initiative she so clearly puts into her role. Her work is a benefit not only to the Dean’s office but the entire Graduate Studies program.”
Here is an excerpt from Crystal’s nomination:
On her own accord, Crystal took it upon herself to embrace the potential of OHSU’s new Bridge software to bring order to the [admissions] process … she has created what is now an almost fully automated admissions portal. Not only has this significantly increased the efficiency of how this process works, but it is easier to use, track and ultimately saves the entire process countless hours of time and energy. Without Crystal’s initiative and creativity, we would still be doing things the old, less efficient and more time consuming way.
The OHSU community will have an opportunity to celebrate with Crystal, and the other nominees, during the upcoming ROSE dedication ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at the rose garden in front of Mackenzie Hall.
