Dr. Ryan Palmer receives CPED Dissertation in Practice Award

Palmer RyanRyan Palmer, Ed.D., assistant professor of family medicine in the OHSU School of Medicine, was named one of two recipients of the 2014 Carnegie Project of the Education Doctorate (CPED) Dissertation in Practice Award. Dr. Palmer is also director of curriculum evaluation and development for the Department of Family Medicine.

 

Dr. Palmer received the award for his dissertation entitled “Exploring Online Community Among Rural Medical Education Students: A Case Study.” The award honors scholarly practitioners’ work that seeks to create change in practice and adheres to the CPED definition of Dissertation in Practice. He earned his doctorate from Portland State University’s Graduate School of Education. He will be accepting the award and making a 15-minute presentation on his work at the CPED 2014 Convening in October at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
