Jagdeep Obhrai, MD, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, has been selected as one of 18 scientists to serve as an Associate Scientific Advisor for Science’s sister journal, Science Translational Medicine (STM).
According to their website, STM’s mission is to promote human health by providing a forum for communication and cross-fertilization among basic, translational, and clinical research practitioners and trainees from all relevant established and emerging disciplines.
Dr. Obhrai is the third appointment from OHSU to serve in this capacity – the others were the Department of Medicine’s Joshi Alumkal, MD, Assistant Professor, and Melissa Nyendak, MD, Assistant Professor. All three faculty members have been participants in the OCTRI Human Investigations and Career Development Programs, and are OCTRI Scholars. OCTRI (Oregon Clinical & Translational Research Institute) is one of now 60 institutes nationwide that is funded by a Clinical Translational Science Award (CTSA). Each year only a handful of Associate Scientific Advisor appointments are made, drawing from the 60 CTSA institutes. To have had three appointees from OHSU is a credit to the OCTRI Career Development Program as well as to these outstanding clinician scientists.
