Dr. Melnick awarded Translating Research to Policy Award
Alan Melnick, MD R'91, MPH, CPH, Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine, was part of a research team awarded the 5th Annual Translating Research to Policy Award by Active Living Research.
Melnick, health officer for Clark County Public Health; Brendon Haggerty, MURP, Program Coordinator, Clark County Public Health; Marc Boldt, Board of Clark County Commissioners; and Laurie Lebowsky, MURP, Planner III, Clark County Community Planning, were presented with the award at the 9th Annual Active Living Research Conference in March in San Diego.
The award recognizes innovative teams or individuals representing research, policy and/or advocacy who have had success in catalyzing policy or environmental change of relevance to youth physical activity, sedentary behavior and obesity prevention. It is presented annual to an individual or a team consisting of a researcher and a policy-maker, decision-maker, or advocate, who has collectively used research to inform, stimulate or contribute to policy or practice change.
