Mark Gibson, Director, Center for Evidence-based Policy, has been appointed to the Health Evidence Review Commission.

Created during the 2011 legislative session, the Health Evidence Review Commission (HERC) will replace the Health Services Commission and the Health Resources Commission effective January 1, 2012.

The HERC will continue to uphold what Gov. John Kitzhaber said was “our proud tradition of transparently using the best available evidence for the critically important health policy decisions that lie ahead.”

The commission will be made up of 13 individuals including physicians, a dentist, a public
health representative, and a behavioral health provider such as a social worker, alcohol and drug
treatment provider or psychologist or psychiatrist, as well as participants representing
consumers, pharmacy and complementary and alternative medicine providers and the insurance
industry. The providers must be licensed to practice in Oregon.
