Modern Healthcare has named William Hersh, MD, FACP, FACMI, Professor and Chair, Department of Medical Informatics & Clinical Epidemiology, as one of the Top 25 Clinical Informaticists in the United States.
Nominated by one of his students, this is the second year in which Dr. Hersh has received this honor. “I am thrilled to be one of the few academics in this group, and recognized for my role in advancing education and training in the field through our program at OHSU,” he said.
Modern Healthcare's Top 25 Clinical Informaticists awards and honors program recognizes medical professionals who excel at using patient-care data to improve both the clinical and financial performance of their healthcare organizations.
Dr. Hersh leads OHSU’s graduate educational program in biomedical informatics, which is one of the largest in the country. In partnership with the American Medical Informatics Association, he developed the 10x10 program, which sought to educate 10,000 healthcare professionals in biomedical and health informatics by 2010 and continues to provide an introduction to the field.
