OHSU Family Medicine Interest Group named program of excellence Share This OHSU Content

OHSU's Family Medicine Interest Group is one of 18 medical schools named by The American Academy of Family Physicians as a 2014 Program of Excellence Award winner. The award recognizes outstanding activities in generating interest in family medicine.

The news was announced by AAFP June 26 and award winners will be honored during an Aug. 8 ceremony at the AAFP National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students in Kansas City. 

The OHSU Family Medicine Interest Group has 140 active members, according to the award-winning application. The group uses career advising activities, clinical skills workshops and other programs to orient students to the family medicine specialty. Winners of the overall AAFP 2014 Program of Excellence Award Recipients are:
