Toast to our 2013 graduates!

graduates reception32613Each year in March, the School of Medicine Alumni Association, led by the Alumni Council, hosts a Graduates' Reception to honor graduating students in both the M.D. and Graduate Studies programs and formally welcome them into the alumni family. More than 250 graduates, mentors and other guests gathered this year at the Center for Health and Healing on Portland's South Waterfront.

In addition to celebrating achievements, fourth-year medical students also announced  the launch of a scholarship drive to create a class gift in memory of beloved school leader and teacher, Tana Grady-Weliky, M.D. Dr. Grady-Weliky, associate dean for undergraduate medical education, died in 2011.

Organizers are asking fellow students to donate a suggested $20.13 each over multi-year pledges. The goal is to raise $16,247, which will be matched by Dr. Grady-Weliky's family and added to other contributions and those given at the time of her death. The goal is to endow the Tana Grady-Weliky, M.D. Scholarship Fund with $50,000.
