First annual mix and mingle
September 16, 2014
Busy schedules can make it challenging for residents and fellows to get to know peers they work alongside, let alone find an opportunity to socialize. At the first annual Resident/Fellow Mixer, 30 trainees from surgery to internal medicine got that chance, mingling in the Mackenzie Hall courtyard with family and spouses while enjoying food, drinks and music.
Sponsored by OHSU’s House Officers’ Association (HOA) and Graduate Medical Education, the event was an opportunity for trainees from different programs to socialize with one another in a decidedly more casual setting than the hospital or lab.
“The resident/fellow mixer was a great way to build intra-departmental relationships” said HOA co-president Jennifer Pasko, M.D., who helped organize the event along with co-president Nikki Wieghard, M.D. The HOA and GME plan to make the mixer an annual fall event.
