Dawn Dillman, MD, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine, has been appointed the Director of Student Affairs for the OHSU School of Medicine. In this role, Dr. Dillman will serve as a primary mentor for all OHSU medical students. This includes helping students with academic troubles, experiencing work-life issues, or need academic advice.
“With this appointment, I am delighted to recognize Dawn's commitment and years of work supporting medical students,” said Molly Osborne, MD, PhD, Interim Associate Dean for Educational Affairs and Associate Dean for Student Affairs.
Dr. Dillman embraces her role as a student mentor and said she hopes all students in need will seek her help, as well as take advantage of the resources the Student Affairs office has to offer.
“One of my tasks is to help increase student accessibility to faculty members who can answer questions related to their specific interest in medicine,” said Dr. Dillman.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Dawn since she was a resident at Hopkins,” said Jeffrey Kirsch, MD, Professor and Chair, Department of Anesthesiology & Periopertive Medicine. “I recruited her to OHSU because of her expertise and passion for mentoring medical students. I am thrilled that her valuable mentoring skills will now be extended to all students in the School of Medicine.”
Dr. Dillman is from the Midwest and attended the University of Iowa Medical School. She did her residency in anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins University. She has been at OHSU since 2003.
