Reunion Weekend Draws Hundreds of Alumni

Dental Hygiene Class of '63

They came from North Carolina, Nevada, Hawaii, Washington, Alaska, and Idaho. One class held a waxing contest, another took a tour of the dental school’s new building under construction; still others went dancing. All of the nine OHSU School of Dentistry classes ending in “3” and “8” who reunited the first weekend of April enjoyed sharing good food, and memories of their years together.

“It’s great to be back,” said Paul Brosy, D.M.D. `83, Reno, Nev., whose class used the school’s third floor lab for a waxing contest April 5 to kick off their festivities, coordinated by his wife, Lynn Brosy whom he met and married in dental school. “It looks pretty much the same as it did 30 years ago, only cleaner,” he said. Bryan Guthrie, D.M.D. `83, Oregon City, Ore., won the class’s waxing contest.

“We had a super great class,” said Lynn. “We were very close and had a lot of fun.”

The DMD Class of 1953 enjoyed a hard hat tour of the dental school’s new facility under construction on Portland’s South Waterfront.  The RDH Class of 1963 enjoyed food and conversation at the Portland City Grill, with a visit from Interim Dean Gary Chiodo, D.M.D. `78, F.A.C.D. The DMD Class of 1993 played pool at Uptown Billiards. And the DMD Class of 1963—celebrating their 50th dental school anniversary—had a good turnout at the Lake Oswego Country Club.
