What are posterior composites?
When you need a dental restoration (filling) on your posterior (back) teeth, you have two choices: amalgam fillings, which are usually metal-based (silver/ mercury), or composites, which are tooth-colored. Posterior composites are bonded, tooth-colored materials that can be placed in your posterior teeth.
Who can get a posterior composite?
Anyone who has tooth decay and needs a dental restoration might have it done using posterior composites. For larger restorations, there may be some limitations; we’ll talk with you and make sure you understand all your options.
What are the benefits of posterior composites?
Many people prefer their dental restorations to match their teeth in color. Posterior composites can conserve your tooth structure and provide a natural look.
