This course is designed for dentists now performing some orthodontic treatment, those who are now using Invisalign orthodontics or other treatment modalities, those who would like to incorporate orthodontics into their practice, and all dentists who wish to fill a vital and somewhat mysterious or cloudy area in dental education.     • A modified, controlled, safe and predictable SERIAL EXTRACTION treatment
    • When deciduous teeth should be considered over-retained
    • Understanding Cephalometric relationships

During the afternoon session you will be introduced to "STATE OF THE ART" orthodontic treatment.

THE STRAIGHT WIRE / PRE-ANGULATED BRACKET TREATMENT APPLIANCE
   • SIX KEYS TO NORMAL OCCLUSION
   • Goals of orthodontic treatment
   • Components of a fixed orthodontic appliance
   • Treatment concepts involved in using the STRAIGHT WIRE technique
   • Proper orthodontic band & bracket placement
   • Functional appliances
   • How to start implementing these concepts immediately in your practice
   • Bridging the gap between family dentistry and orthodontics

Speaker:  Howard D. Friedman, DDS, received his dental degree at New York University and then served a residency in a Veterans Administration hospital.  He earned his graduate orthodontic certification at New York University and served a tour as an orthodontist with the U.S. Army.  He then went into the private specialty practice of orthodontics.  He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association.  For many years, he was a delegate to the State House of Delegates.  Dr. Friedman has been presenting courses and seminars at universities across the United States.  This is Dr. Friedman's 20th anniversary of presenting his programs at OHSU.
