This interactive program provides the practicing dental professional with a better understanding of five of the most common medical pathologies creating challenges in the dental chair, and concrete strategies for treating these patients in the office on Monday.

Course Objectives - As a result of attending this course, the participant should be able to:
• Understand the indications for use of the seven emergency drugs in your dental kit
• Risk stratify patients to ensure positive outcomes for you, your Team, and your patient
• Recognize the signs and symptoms of "meth mouth" and know how to approach these difficult cases
• Utilize the appropriate monitoring equipment and interpret results
• Understand the unique requirements of treating diabetic and cardiovascular patients
• Understand the current guidelines for anticoagulant therapy and realize how you can ensure your patient receives optimal anticoagulant therapy during their dental procedure

Jason H. Goodchild, DMD is a graduate of Dickson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He received his dental training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he maintains a faculty position as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine. As part of his faculty duties, he treats patients with complex medical histories, and oversees students and residents.
Dr. Goodchild is also an Assistant Professor and Director of the Division of Oral Diagnosis in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at the New Jersey Dental School. He has published numerous articles and spoken to many State Dental Boards on the topic of enteral sedation dentistry. He has been an invited speaker for the Academy of General Dentistry and American Association for Dental Examiners. He is a reviewer for the Journal of the American Dental Association, General Dentistry, and Quintessence International. He has also served as a grant reviewer for the National Institute of Health.
Mark Donaldson, B.Sc. (Pharm), R.Ph., Pharm.D., FASHP received his B.Sc.(Pharm) from the University of British Columbia, and his Doctorate in Clinical Pharmacy from the University of Washington. He further completed a residency at Vancouver General Hospital, and is the current Director of Pharmaceutical Services at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Donaldson is a faculty member and Full Clinical Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Montana in Missoula, and Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Dentistry at the Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. He has a special interest in dental pharmacology and has been a primary author and investigator for the National Institutes of Health (N.I.H.) Consensus Development Committee to define the guidelines for enteral sedation in the United States, as well as an invited expert to compose a whitepaper on Enteral Conscious Sedation for the Academy of General Dentistry (A.G.D). He is a reviewer for the Journal of the American Dental Association, General Dentistry, and Quintessence International.
