Twenty-one Busy Days Of Summer: By the Numbers

Care to guess how many alumni and other friends of the school golfed, ate, reconnected, celebrated and were educated at five SDAA-sponsored events in Aloha, Portland, San Francisco and San Antonio between September 19 and October 10? Read more.

September 19 saw the Cantwell Memorial Golf Tournament played under beautiful skies and the distraction of a free air show at The Reserve in Aloha. The following day guests at the Cantwell Lecture/Ryan Dental Hygiene Update heard Dr. Donald Nixdorf and Dr. Alan Law discuss dental pain after root canals in the first public lecture to be held in the school's new home in South Waterfront.

That evening, alumni, faculty, residents and friends of the Department of Periodontology gathered at a reception at the AAP annual conference in San Francisco, meeting Dean Marucha, Department Chair Dr. Jim Katancik and Residency Director Dr. Bernie Carter.

Friday, October 10 proved to be a southern-themed bonanza with simultaneous events in Portland and Texas: the Class of 2018 received their class sweatshirts at a chili feed in the new building, and alumni attending the ADA Session in San Antonio met at a reception to hear an update from Dean Marucha and view a display of the school.

Particular thanks are due to the SDAA Board, sponsors for all these events, and to all 430 alumni and friends who participated at one or more of the celebrations! Enjoy photos from some of the gatherings here.
