Pamela J. Hughes, DDS

Pamela J Hughes, DDS is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  She is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with special clinical interests in orthognathic surgery for dentofacial deformities and obstructive sleep apnea, and reconstructive temporomandibular joint surgery.   She also serves as the Division Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at OHSU Hospital.  Her BS in Nutritional Sciences was obtained at Michigan State University.  She then went on to receive her DDS degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy and residency training at the University of Minnesota.

After training she spent five years in private practice in Chicago, then transitioned into academic practice at the University of Minnesota where she spent 9 years as OMS Residency Program Director.  She is happy to be living in the pacific northwest and enjoys tennis, biking and exploring the Portland restaurant culture.
