Tyson Curtis
Dr. Tyson Curtis grew up in Cerritos, CA, graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry in 2004 then completed a one year general practice residency at the Greater Los Angeles VA Hospital. He spent the next 4 years in general practice in Long Beach and Aliso Viejo,CA before beginning endodontic residency at OHSU. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, bluewater hunting, snowboarding, and playing bass, guitar, piano, and singing.
Jim Ruckman
Jim Ruckman is originally from Eugene, Oregon. He obtained a B.S. from Portland State University in Psychology and Science (a double major). He received his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Following dental school, he worked for two years as a general dentist in Boston, Massachusetts and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before starting Endodontic residency.
Erick Sato
Erick Sato is from in Walnut, CA (not Walnut Creek). He received his undergrad education at the University of California, San Diego. During his undergrad education he studied abroad at the Georg-August Universitaet in Goettingen, Germany. After graduation from UCSD, Erick worked in the biotech industry in San Diego for three years, during which time he decided to pursue a career in dentistry. He attended the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA and a two-year general practice residency at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia.
1st Year
Katie Burley
Dr Katie Burley received her BS in General Science and Dental Hygiene from OHSU in 2002. She practiced dental hygiene in a variety of settings in and around the Portland area. Subsequently Katie returned to OHSU to complete her DMD degree in 2008. Since that time she has been providing comprehensive dental care in a number of remote Alaskan villages. Katie enjoys many outdoor activities including skiing, riding snow machines, fishing, and most recently cycling. Katie is married to Jarid Burley OHSU SOD Class of 2013.
William Hu
Dr. William Hu received a BA in Biology in 2000 from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He attended OHSU and received a DMD in 2004. Following dental school, he returned to Hawaii and practiced general dentistry for seven years before starting Endodontic residency. He is an avid fisherman and enjoys spending time with his wife, Leila, and pomeranian, Howie.
Gina Savani
Dr. Gina Savani received a bachelor's degree in Biology in 1999 from the University of Scranton. She then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and received a DMD in 2003. She completed a one year GPR program at Loyola University Medical Center near Chicago.After her GPR, she worked as an associate in a well-established family practice in St. Charles, IL.During the seven years she practiced there, she also spent time working in a dental office in the Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago, a very culturally diverse area and a very busy office.She treated many Spanish speaking patients and many children.It was while working there that she decided to apply for an endodontic residency (not pedo). She has enjoyed OHSU and Oregon and is learning about all of the things that 'Keep Portland Weird'.
