Dr. Doug Reid is a clinical instructor in the departments of Clinic Administration and Restorative Dentistry. Doug retired from private practice in The Dalles, Oregon in 2003 and shortly thereafter received an appointment at OHSU School of Dentistry. He is a 1973 graduate of the University of Oregon Dental School (now OHSU) where he graduated with High Honors. Following graduation Dr. Reid completed a General Practice Residency at the Indian Health Service, Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. This was followed by several more years in the Indian Health Service in Kotzebue, Alaska and then returning to Anchorage as the Deputy Chief of the Dental Service at the Alaska Native Medical Center. During this time he received additional training in care for disabled and handicapped patients through the DECOD (Dental Education in the Care of Persons with Disabilities) program at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. In 1981 Dr. Reid started in private practice in The Dalles where his practice drew on his training in dentistry for disabled patients and became heavily weighted towards geriatric dentistry. He uses this training and experience in lectures on geriatric dentistry, seminars in Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning and one-on-one discussions with students in the clinical setting.
