General Information:
PAHL libraries include the following Portland Academic Health Libraries: National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM), the University of Western States (UWS), and the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM).

What can I request through PAHL libraries?

When searching the PAHL shared catalog (click on the ‘Search Other Portland Academic Health Science Libraries’ tab from the Library Search page), any book or media that is circulating can be requested. Journal articles and unavailable PAHL library items can be requested through interlibrary loan/document delivery service.

How can I request PAHL materials?
Search the PAHL shared catalog by clicking on the ‘Search Other Portland Academic Health Science Libraries’ tab from the Library Search page. Use the Sign in link to log in and see the request options for PAHL items. Use your network credentials or last name and barcode to sign in. You can fill out an application form if you do not have a barcode. Once you have identified an item that you want to borrow, simply follow the on-screen instructions that appear after clicking on the ‘Resource Sharing Request.’

What about service for distance education students?
Distance education students who do not have a host campus library should select the OHSU Distance Ed pickup option. Books will be mailed directly to students in the continental U.S. with a pre-paid return label.

How can I check the status of my request?
You can see what items are checked out to you by logging into your library account, which can be accessed either from the library’s homepage or in the upper right hand corner of the Library Search screen. Enter your network credentials or your last name and OHSU library barcode.

Can I renew my PAHL materials?
PAHL items are checked out for three weeks with an option for one renewal. You can see items checked out to you by logging into your library account, which can be accessed either from the library’s homepage or in the upper right hand corner of the Library Search screen. Use your network credentials or last name and barcode to sign in.

Where can I pick up or return PAHL materials?

Materials will be available for pick up at your selected location, usually within 3-5 business days (items are mailed to distance students).

Are there any late fees for overdue PAHL materials?
Late fees are .50 cents per day.

What about journal articles and materials I can't find in the PAHL catalog?
Journal articles and unavailable PAHL library items can be requested through interlibrary loan/document delivery service.

 

How can I get an OHSU Library barcode number?
Come to the OHSU Library or apply online using the library barcode application form.
